Vitro Flex
Vitro Flex, S.A. de C.V. , is the business unit which manufactures and markets safety glass for the automotive industry. It is 20-minute drive from the city of Monterrey, in Villa de Garcia, Nuevo Leon. It was founded in 1980 as a joint venture between (62%)Vitro, S.A. and (38%) Ford Motor Company.
Vitro Flex manufacturing process was carefully designed with the most updated machine and equipment available. It takes advantage of high quality and low cost Mexican labor. It combines the most advanced technology of Vitro and Ford to manufacture automotive safety glass according to worldclass standards.
Plant operations started in October 1981 after successfully securing required certifications from the governments of the United States, Germany, Spain, Canada, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico.
The Vitro Flex manufacturing process consists of 2 product lines. One is devoted to the manufacture of laminated glass, while the other produces tempered glass.
Quimica M
Quimica M started in 1969. In 1974 it joined Grupo Vitro, and, in 1995, it became a partner with Solutia, Inc.
Quimica M is the only polyvinyl butiral manufacturer in the world which is simultaneously a part of the glass industry. It operates two extrusion product lines with the capacity for manufacturing polyvinyl butiral with a strip as a part of the co-extrusion process. It is certified in ISO 9002, registered by the British Standards Institution, and currently working toward getting QS 9000 certification.
As a part of technological updating, it improves its quality systems and emphasis on the client. This is why Quimica M continues as a leader in the Mexican market, in addition to exporting to the USA, Europe, and the Middle East through its partner.
Vitro America
Acquired in 1992 and with general offices in Memphis, Tennessee, in the United States of America, it distributes flat glass products for the architectural , automotive, and furniture markets. It is comprised of Binswanger Glass, ACI Distribution South, ACI Distribution West, Glasscraft, and Super Sky.
VVP America operates 80 Binswanger stores, 25 ACI South distribution centers, 7 manufacturing and 23 ACI Distribution West centers, and it relies on a wide network of Super Sky representatives all over the world.
Binswanger Glass specializes in commercial and residential glass, as well as automotive glass installation. Binswanger Mirror is the industrial leader in the wholesale manufacturing and distribution of laminated mirrors and glass.
ACI Distribution South is a vendor of architectural and automotive flat glass and glass-related products. ACI Distribution West produces and distributes glass and glass-related products.
Glasscraft is the market leader in the production of table coverings and Super Sky is the international leader in the manufacture and installation of skylights.
